About Mukcyen
"Mukcyen" is a coined word based on the Chinese pronunciation "mù cūn" of the designer's surname. This abstract and seemingly meaningless word embodies a sincere intention to imbue it with unique meaning by endowing it with the history and culture that one creates oneself. Focusing on human complexity and the fluidity of time, and driven by an obsession with death that stems from an overwhelming belief in the power of life, the brand creates a distinctive vision of humanity by intersecting cultural elements such as cult films and literature. This manifests as "attire" that shares and yearns for human relationships and ways of being.

Born in Tokyo in 1998, with roots in Fujian Province, China, where childhood was spent. Settled permanently in Japan during teenage years. After graduating from Bunka Fashion College, worked for approximately four years in planning at a domestic designer brand, engaging in the entire process including product development, material selection, and production coordination. Through this experience, developed a deep interest in how clothing resonates with people's sensibilities and states of being.
Subsequently established the personal brand "Mukcyen," presenting the debut collection for the 2024/25 autumn/winter season. Creates clothing with themes of "discomfort" and "boundaries" that arise between structure and sensation, body and garment.
Against the backdrop of SNS culture, has been expressively communicating a unique worldview through the format of selfies since student days, incorporating styling, hair and makeup, and AI generation with rich sensitivity. This attitude of continuing to "share aesthetic consciousness" even before establishing the brand has become the origin of Mukcyen's creative activities.
Additionally, the commitment to creating clothing that respects diverse identities and sensitivities is connected to the designer's own bisexuality. The attitude of exploring "structures that align with each person's way of life" without being bound by frameworks such as gender, occupation, or age forms the foundation of Mukcyen's values and expression.
